For easy cutting of Lauxes grates, we recommend the use of a mitre saw fitted with a multi-material cutting blade – 80 tooth or more.
A compact drill with a bimetal hole saw is more than adequate for drilling a hole in Lauxes trays for the waste outlet.
- Cut the bottom tray 3mm shorter than the desired length to allow end caps to be fitted
- Cut the top grate 3mm shorter than the bottom tray to allow for easy removal of the top grate and for a tidy fit.
- Using a suitable size hole-saw for your waste, drill out the hole at the required position to align with the waste pipe in the floor.
- Insert the end caps into the bottom tray and secure with a bead of silicone on the inside of the tray.
- Place silicone around the lip of the waste and secure to the underside of the bottom tray at the recently drilled hole.
HOW TO CUT A CORNER ANGLE
STEP 1
Mark 5mm in from the edge of a slot and using your drop saw cut straight down (0°).
STEP 2
Now adjust drop saw angle to 45° (right hand side) and lock into place. Line up the blade of your saw to the bottom right hand corner of the grate and secure grate before cutting.
STEP 3
Once angle has been cut, remove the top grate and replace with bottom tray. Cut again at a 45° angle and set aside.
STEP 4
Repeat steps 1 through 3 with new top grate and bottom tray flipped upside down.
STEP 5
Once all pieces are cut, line up together to see how the slots line up.
NOTE: (Top tray only): You may need to trim a little more off one grate to achieve an even heart shape look. Once cut, to trim the grate further you will need to flip the grate over to avoid blade catching. (This relates mainly to 100mm wide grate).
Cut grate to desired length.
Tip: Cut angles first before you cut the grate to the length you need.
